Abstract

The limited capacity of the current drainage channels, many of which are damaged and neglected, is the driving force behind this research. The city's evolving features must be balanced with a suitable drainage system that can regulate and manage the surface water that is already there. Rainwater that is unable to enter the drainage channels is often the cause of the inadequate drainage system, which is evident in the numerous puddles and water runoff that are typically found along the highway. The clogged or asphalted-over complementary street inlet buildings are the cause of this condition. The construction of a connecting road between the shophouse yard and the highway may prevent water from entering the channel in certain areas of the road, particularly in trading areas with shophouse facilities. In addition to making observations, the researcher also spoke with a 40-year-old trader in the Aur Kuning trading area. He stated that whenever it rains in that area, water will undoubtedly overflow onto the road and carry market trash with it. There are numerous debris and silt piles in the area, suggesting that the drainage system is not being maintained. Purposive sampling, a descriptive method, and a qualitative approach are all used in this research design.
